Went to the first doctor appointment today! I got an overload of information about the whole pregnancy process and I am SO ready to meet my little jelly bean!! Still have a short 35 more weeks before that should happen though...I will have to wait i guess =)
The doctor said that everything looks great and that since I am "special" I get to have a TON of ultrasounds throughout the pregnancy. This is a good thing for me, because I get to see the baby a lot more often then most people usually do. I am "special" because when I was 17 I had a procedure done to remove abnormal pre cancerous cells on my cervix. So, being that I had a large portion of my cervix removed they have to do ultrasounds every 3 weeks or so to make sure that my cervix is still nice and thick and shaped correctly. I am at higher risk for pre term labor because of this..but I am staying optimistic and looking forward to a nice, long, healthy pregnancy.
We get to have our first ultrasound done on Feb 17th at 9:00 a.m. We will get to see the heart beat at that time and also determine my exact due date which is October 5th as of now! I CAN NOT WAIT!! about 3-4 weeks after that when I am 11-12 weeks we will go for another type of ultrasound that will look for signs of any birth defects and such...at this time they can usually tell the sex of the baby with 95% accuracy! =)
I weighed in at a whopping 115lbs....tee hee hee....I am kind of looking forward to breaking 120 for the first time ever! I am excited to keep all of you posted on my weight gain and belly measurments! The good news is, that since I am a tiny little thing.....Doc said I can eat whatever I want as far as carbs! I love potatoes people.....and ice cream...so back off me! I CAN eat them!! (Michael, if you do not beleive me then I will give you the phone number to the doctors office...take that spinach salad and enjoy it...I will have a large order of fries!)
If y'all don't mind I will share my weekly emails about development of Baby E with you. This weeks said:
"Your baby is about the size of a sesame seed, and he looks more like a tiny tadpole than a human. The big development this week: Your baby's brain is beginning to grow! It develops from the neural tube, a structure that will also spawn your baby's spinal cord, nerves, and backbone. Since folic acid helps prevent neural tube defects such as spina bifida, you can see why it's so important to take it while trying to conceive and early in pregnancy. In the meantime, the primitive placenta and umbilical cord, which deliver nourishment and oxygen to your baby, are already on the job."
So, my baby's brain is growing!! I am going to birth a baby genius! I just know it! I mean, look at me...I am pretty stinkin' smart...and with Michaels contribution of his little bit of knowledge it stands a pretty good chance right?! haha I am kidding myself...Michael is definitely the smart one =) Baby E will learn a TON from his or her daddy, as do I every single day.
I will close for now! I will blog more tomorrow!
Kristy is right that web site is useful my sister lived on it during her two pregnancy's. Congrats again to you and Mike you will be such cute parents.
